Running an Interview
Create the question set
Section titled “Create the question set”Open User Interviews and click New interview. Give it a name — something your team will recognise later, such as “Onboarding feedback” — then add your questions.
Each question has a type: Open text, Single select, Multi select, or Rating. Select questions carry the options you list; rating questions carry the low and high ends of the scale. Questions are asked in the order you arrange them.
Click Create interview and you land on the interview’s page, which shows the questions you wrote and — once people start answering — the transcripts that come back.
Share the participant link
Section titled “Share the participant link”From the interview page, click Copy interview link. Marketrix mints a fresh link and copies it to your clipboard, and the confirmation tells you exactly when it expires.
A few things worth knowing about the link:
- It is ephemeral. Each link is valid for about four hours. Generate a new one whenever you need it — clicking Copy interview link again always mints a fresh link.
- It carries its own authentication. The token in the URL is what authorizes both loading the interview and posting the answers back. Participants never sign in and never see your dashboard.
- It is shareable. The same link works for everyone you send it to while it is valid, and each person’s submission comes back as its own transcript.
Send it however you already reach your users — email, chat, a support thread.
What participants see
Section titled “What participants see”The link opens a public interview room. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for. The participant is asked how they would like to answer.
The room reads each question aloud and transcribes the answer as the participant speaks. They can edit any answer inline before submitting, mute the microphone or the speaker, and pause and resume at any point. A progress panel tracks how many questions are done.
Voice needs microphone permission and the browser’s built-in speech support, so it works best in Chrome or Edge. Nothing starts until the participant clicks to begin.
The written form lists every question with the right input for its type — a text box, radio buttons, checkboxes, or the rating scale. Participants can optionally give their name, see an answered count as they go, and click Submit answers when they are done.
Either way, nothing reaches Marketrix mid-interview: the whole transcript is assembled in the participant’s browser and posted once, when they finish.
Read the transcripts
Section titled “Read the transcripts”Completed interviews appear in the Transcripts section of the interview page, each with the participant’s name — if they gave one — and the time it arrived. Voice and text interviews land in the same place and in the same shape: the questions you asked, with the answers given.
Until someone finishes, the section stays empty. A participant who closes the room before submitting sends nothing.
